04/2003 — Ellis Island Presents 2003 Family Heritage Awards
The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation celebrated their annual Family Heritage Awards in the Great Hall at Ellis Island, honoring five notable Americans with immigrant connections to the historic port of entry. The recipients included baseball great Yogi Berra, entertainer Bob Hope, pioneering AIDS researcher Dr. Anthony Fauci, actress Cicely Tyson, and retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant Abie Abraham. The awards are given each spring to recipients in a variety of categories.
03/2003 — Tashua Knolls Launches Web Site
The Town of Trumbull announced the launch of a new Web site for their public golf facility to kick off the 2003 season. The Tashua Knolls Golf Course is part of the 268-acre Tashua Recreation Area and a popular destination for both resident and non-resident golfers. 01/2003 — Jaxon Consulting Launches Online Presence
Jaxon Consulting, provider of consulting services to the insurance and reinsurance industry, announced the launch of their first Web site. Founder William R. Jackson, Jr. has been associated with the insurance and reinsurance industry for the last three decades. 11/2002 — Mattatuck Building Service for Local Markets
In an effort to help local businesses and other organizations more fully leverage the power of the Internet, local online marketing professional Dan Lynch has announced the development of an online directory dedicated to connecting local merchants with those in the region seeking their product, service or area of expertise. The service will be managed as a separate operating unit of Mattatuck Consulting under the name 8Towns Marketing and will incorporate a series of Web sites. The first site, 8towns.com will cover the 8 town region of Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Milford, Monroe, Shelton, Stratford, and Trumbull. Currently, there are no such legitimate services focused on this market and Lynch expects tremendous support from the local business community.
10/2002 — Waterbury Hall of Fame Inducts John William Gaffney
Dan Lynch, co-founder of Mattatuck Consulting, was asked to present the contributions of John William Gaffney, 2002 Waterbury Hall of Fame recipient. As a professional genealogist, Lynch was well suited for the presentation which blended Waterbury history with genealogy research. The awards are sponsored each year by the Friends of the Silas Bronson Library.
09/2002 — Waterbury Web Site Features Local History Content
Mattatuck has released a newly revised version of www.GreaterWaterbury.com, which has been online since early last year. The most recent version of this site features genealogy and local history content, but also includes information for those wishing to visit the area for business or pleasure. This site already has a loyal online following among Waterbury genealogy researchers.
08/2002 — Connecticut Justice of the Peace Taps Mattatuck for Online Marketing
Recognized for our expertise in online marketing, Mattatuck has been selected by Stuart Schwartz to develop a preliminary plan for all aspects of online marketing with an anticipated rollout some time during the next twelve months. Search Engine Marketing will be a primary component of the plan given the intense competition online for terms relating to Connecticut Justice of the Peace.
07/2002 — 1880 Census Web Site Launched for Free Access
As part of a long-standing commitment to the genealogy community, Mattatuck has published a free site about the 1880 Census, which includes links to a fully searchable electronic index, also free. This census is significant in many ways, but notable for being the first census where the relationship between head of household and others living in that household were stated. This is one of a number of genealogy-related sites created by Mattatuck, including one covering the 1900 Census.
06/2002 — Don Coddington Agrees to Test of Mattatuck Search Expertise
Recording industry executive Don Coddington recently met with Mattatuck Consulting to learn more about the fundamentals of search engine marketing. It's no secret that the recording industry caters to a young audience and so Coddington is looking to better understand the Internet — the medium that serves as the primary communications tool among teens and the 20-something crowd.
06/2002 — New York Passenger Lists Available for Immigration Research
Mattatuck has announced the launch of www.NewYorkPassengerLists.com, a site to help family historians understand the developments of the Port of New York as a major destination for millions of American immigrants. From Castle Garden to Ellis Island, the Port of New York represents an important destination for anyone researching migration records.
04/2002 — 1930 Census Released From 72-Year Privacy
Every 10 years, there are two important events that occur regarding the U.S. Federal Census. The one most people are familiar with is that a current enumeration of the U.S. population is taken. Family history enthusiasts, however, celebrate the lifting of a mandatory 72-year hold that the federal government places on census before they can be available for public inspection. Mattatuck celebrated this event with the release of www.1930census.com — a site dedicated to helping online researchers use census records more effectively. Mattatuck co-founder Dan Lynch is highly regarded as an expert on the North American genealogy market.
