12/2004 — Tashua Knolls Seeks Head Golf Professional
The Town of Trumbull today announced they have commenced a search for a new Head Golf Professional for the Tashua Knolls Golf Course following the resignation of Christopher 'Sammy' Samson. The Golf Commission has formed a sub-committee which will manage the selection process and is anticipating a great deal of interest from candidates throughout the northeast, as well as outside the region. Deadline for submission of resumes is Jan. 26, 2005, click for details.

12/2004 — Tashua Knolls Expands Banquet Facilities
Domenic Faustini, concessioner of the restaurant and banquet hall at the Tashua Knolls Golf Course, recently announced plans for expansion and rennovation of the existing Trumbull-based facility. Preliminary work has already begun and will be completed by early Spring 2005. Once complete, the newly constructed banquet room will acomodate up to 300 guests.

11/2004 — Tech Foundation Awards $25,000
For the seventh consecutive year, the Trumbull Technology Foundation presented teachers of grades K-12 with grant awards to fund technology-related programs in the classroom. Since 1997, the nonprofit foundation has awarded more than $150,000 to Trumbull CT schools. The grant process is open to all faculty and staff for grades K-12 and encourages the innovative uses of technology in the educational process.

10/2004 — The Room Doctor Prepares for Holidays
Madison CT-based redesign firm, The Room Doctor, is hosting a series of open house events and has published a list of helpful decorating tips for the upcoming holidays. According to owner Lisa Leonardi, "The holidays can be a stressful time for many homeowners - my goal is to share tips for some simple things that can make their home a stress-free environment for entertaining into the new year." 10/2004 — Ellis Island Relaunches Popular Genealogy Web Site
In commemoration of National Family History month, The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation relaunched it's Web site, www.ellisisland.org, after months of collaboration with Connecticut-based Mattatuck Consulting. The site, originally launched in April 2001, immediately achieved recognition as one of the most historic launches in Internet history by attracting millions of visitors on their first day of operation. As part of the American Family Immigration History Center, the Web site enables visitors to search passengers arriving through the Port of New York at Ellis Island from 1892-1924.

09/2004 — Cynthia Davis Designs Launches Web Site
Well-known faux finishing artist, Cynthia Davis, recently announced the launch of her newly designed Web site. "So much of my work is visual," Cynthia said, "the web makes it so much easier to conduct an initial discussion to determine what a potential client is looking for." With more than a decade of experience, Cynthia has studied extensively on a wide range of faux painting techniques.

08/2004 — Country Club of Waterbury Hosts 73rd Connecticut PGA Championship
For the first time ever, the PGA will host their Connection PGA Championship tournament at The Country Club of Waterbury. As one of the state's oldest courses and one of only two Donald Ross designs in the state, area professionals are eager to test their skills later this month. The Country Club of Waterbury dates to 1899 and is one of the oldest continuously operated golf clubs in the United States. The current par-69 layout was completed by noted golf architect, Donald Ross, in 1928 and has played host to numerous events since. Visit the course Web site at www.ccwaterbury.com.

08/2004 — Statue of Liberty Celebrates Reopening
The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation and the National Park Service welcomed special guests at a ceremony on August 3, 2004, to celebrate the reopening of the Statue of Liberty National Monument which had been closed since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. After careful review of safety and security aspects of the site, enhancements have been completed and visitors can once again visit this symbol of American freedom.

06/2004 — Mattatuck Founder Featured on ABC's Good Morning America
Mattatuck Consulting founder Dan Lynch was featured on ABC's popular morning news program, Good Morning America, on June 22, 2004. The feature story was part of a week-long feature on family history and family reunions. The segment, filmed at Ellis Island, included an interview with Lynch on steps someone should take to begin researching their family tree. In addition to his work as a marketing and technology consultant, Dan Lynch is a professional genealogist and has taught and lectured on a variety of topics relating to family history research. 04/2004 — Ellis Island Presents 2004 Family Heritage Awards
Guests gathered in the Great Hall at Ellis Island on April 21, 2004, as six prominent American's were recognized for contributions in their respective fields. Five of the honorees trace their immigrant roots through the Golden Doors at Ellis Island. The honorees included legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese, Nobel prize winner Dr. Harold Varmus, NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue, Robert Rubin, former U.S. Treasury Secretary, Notre Dame's beloved football coach, Knute Rockne, and I.M. Pei, world renouned architect. Serving as Master of Ceremonies was news anchor Tom Brokaw.

03/2004 — Google Your Family Tree
Mattatuck co-founder Dan Lynch hosted several free sessions at the Trumbull Library in Trumbull, Connecticut to share tips for using the Internet as a tool for genealogy research. According to Lynch, the Internet and search engines such as Google are perfectly suited as research tools for family historians. The presentation titled Google Your Family Tree was filmed and will be shown on Trumbull's Channel 17 local access television.

02/2004 — Reconnaissance Worldwide Launches Web Site
Newtown, CT-based Reconnaissance Worldwide launched their Web site after several weeks of planning. The company provides a range of consultancy services for the insurance and reinsurance industry with offices in California, the Mid-West, and Connecticut. 01/2004 — Powerstation Founder Named Entrepreneur of the Year
Powerstation founder Al Vagnini was honored by the Greater Waterbury Chamber of Commerce on January 22, 2004, as the Harold Webster Smith Entrepreneur of the Year. Founded in 1983, Vagnini and his long-time friend Jon March began Powerstation as a disc jockey service. Over time, the company grew to add a full range of event services including photography, video services, event planning, and more.
