11/2005 — Waterbury Mayor Mike Jarjura Wins Historic Write-In Campaign
Waterbury Mayor Michael Jarjura won an historic election to continue in his role as Mayor of Connecticut's 4th largest city. After losing the Democratic primary to challenger Karen Mulcahy, Jarjura surprised many by announcing he would seek re-election by pursuing a write-in campaign. As part of their 30-day media blitz, the Jarjura team turned to Mattatuck Consulting to leverage our online marketing expertise. The Web site at www.mikejarjura.com helped educate voters about the process of voting for a write-in candidate.

11/2005 — Canterbury Thoroughbred Wins Stallion Stakes at Aqueduct!
Canterbury Stables' Retribution, the only 3 year-old in the field of 10 colts and geldings, chalked up his third consecutive victory on Sunday, November 6th with a convincing wire to wire win in the $100,000 Cormorant Division of the New York Stallion Stakes. With Cornelio Velasquez in the irons, Retribution sprung out of the gate and galloped home, hitting the wire in 137.1 and winning by 3 1/4 widening lengths. Retribution won a first level allowance test at Saratoga on 9/5/2005, a second level allowance at Belmont on 10/2/2005 and completed the troika at Aqueduct in the Stallion Stakes where he also broke his maiden on 4/15/2005. The victory propelled Retribution's earnings to $191,000 as he has now run 8 times on the turf, with 4 wins, 3 seconds and one troubled trip in the Jersey Derby.

10/2005 — Connecticut Society of Genealogists Celebrate Family History Month
The Connecticut Society of Genealogists (CSG) celebrated Family History Month at their annual seminar held recently at the Marriott Courtyard in Cromwell. More than 175 people attended the day-long event featuring four speakers covering popular genealogical topics including Military Research, Probate & Land Records, Family Photographs, and Internet Genealogy Research Tips. In addition to the seminar, CSG also announced the launch of their new Web site focused on Connecticut Genealogy. Created by Trumbull-based Mattatuck Consulting, the site includes both public areas, as well as advanced content options reserved for the more than 4,000 members of the society. Founded in 1968, CSG is among the largest genealogical societies in the United States.

08/2005 — Town of Trumbull Dedicates New Public Golf Course
After more than 18 years of planning, preparation, and construction, the Town of Trumbull celebrated Opening Day at the new Tashua Glen Golf Course on Saturday, August 6, 2005. The 9-hole layout is located adjacent to the existing 18-hole Tashua Knolls championship course in the northwest corner of Trumbull. Tashua Glen is a par-34 course featuring 4 par-3s, 4 par-4s, and a par-5 finishing hole. Members of the press were treated to a special Media Day prior to the public opening and the course has received very positive reviews from all in attendance. Director of Golf, Bobby Brown, emphasized the "Family Friendly" layout — encouraging players of all levels to visit the new course.

08/2005 — Canterbury Stables Celebrates 4th Annual Gala at Saratoga
Over 100 investors gathered in Saratoga for the 4th Annual Canterbury Gala Weekend. The festivities kicked off with a welcome cocktail reception at the Albany Marriott where many long time Canterbury racehorse owners were able to mix and mingle with some of the newer or first time owners. On Saturday, trainer Gary Contessa provided his typical wit and wisdom during his barn tour while also discussing the fascinating aspects of the thoroughbred world. An afternoon at the races followed and the weekend concluded on Sunday with a Family Outing in nearby Albany.

07/2005 — Genealogy Worldwide Site Launched
The rapidly growing online popularity for family history has drawn many more consumers and companies to the market. The Genealogy 101 tips at this new site www.GenealogyWorldwide.com are among the most popular tips offered by this site.

06/2005 — Mattatuck Announces Plans to Launch New Division
In response to a growing need not being served in the Greater Bridgeport market, Mattatuck has announced the creation of a new division called 8Towns Marketing. This new division will focus exclusively on serving clients in the towns of Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Milford, Monroe, Shelton, Stratford, and Trumbull. With a population of more than 400,000 and over 12,000 businesses serving their needs — 8Towns Marketing plans to launch an innovative service to bridge these merchants with the consumers in their local market. The service, which has been under development since 2002, is expected to launch before years end.

05/2005 — Tashua Farm Launches Web Site
As the 2005 equestrian season heads into Memorial Day weekend, Trumbull-based Tashua Farm is putting the final touches on a newly launched web site. The Internet provides the owners of Tashua Farm an additional means of easily communicating with clients, regardless of their location.

05/2005 — Banquet Facilities To Be Expanded at Tashua Knolls
While final approvals are pending from the Town Council, it appears the restaurant and banquet facilities at Tashua Knolls in Trumbull CT will soon undergo a major renovation and expansion project. When completed in early 2006, the facility will accommodate up to 300 guests according to manager Domenick Faustini. He noted the existing Eagles Nest Grille Room will also be expaned.

05/2005 — Town of Trumbull Names New Golf Course
Following their May 23rd meeting, the Town of Trumbull Golf Commission announced the winner entry in their 'Name That 9' contest for their additional 9-hole golf course slated to open later this season. The new par-33 executive layout located adjacent to the 18-hole championship Tashua Knolls facility will be called Tashua Glen. In a press release announcing the contest winners, Director of Golf Bobby Brown noted the excitement has been building among area golfers in anticipation of the opening. Depending upon weather and growing conditions, the course may open as early as the first week of August.

04/2005 — General Colin Powell Among Those Honored at Ellis Island
The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Awards recently honored a number of individuals who have made unique contributions to different aspects of American history. The recognition was given as part of the 2005 Ellis Island Family Heritage Awards which are given annually by the Foundation.

03/2005 — WebEvident SEO Services Hit Australian Market
Utah-based WebEvident recently announced the signing of their first International distributor for Searchability Essentials. Their partner, destra Corporation Limited, launched an aggressive campaign to bring affordable SEO to the SME market in Australia and New Zealand, where they are the second largest provider of Internet hosting services.

03/2005 — Tashua Knolls Names New Director of Golf
The Town of Trumbull, CT recently announced the hiring of Bobby Brown as the Director of Golf for their 27-hole public golf facility. Brown joins Tashua Knolls Golf Course after more than a decade in Palm Beach County, Florida, most recently at Okeeheelee Golf Club. South Florida's loss is a huge gain for Trumbull golf, especially for Trumbull Junior golf. Brown is well known in the professional golfing community for his significant contributions to the junior golf programs of south Florida and was a founder of the Junior Golf Foundation of America. 02/2005 — Ellis Island Commemorates Arrival of Now Famous Americans
The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation has recently introduced a new feature of their Web site to showcase the arrival of famous Americans. These celebrity manifests are for immigrants who were famous at the time of their arrival or who would later achieve noteriety as a famous American in one of many fields. Among the celebrities featured are: Fritz Austerlitz (father of dancer Fred Astaire), Carl Jung & Sigmund Freud (traveling together), Arthur Stanley Jefferson (Stan Laurel of Laurel & Hardy), Harry Houdini, Charlie Chaplin, and U.S. Presidents Herbert Hoover, Theodore Roosevelt, William Taft, and Woodrow Wilson.  View full press release.

01/2005 — Canterbury Celebrates Historic 25th Victory!
On Wednesday, January 12, 2005, Canterbury Stables celebrated in the Winners' Circle for the 25th time since forming their racing syndicate little more than two years ago. The victory came in the 2nd race at Aqueduct when 4-year old Le Rock crossed the wire in 1:47 for the 1 and 1/16 mile race over muddy track conditions. View finish line photo.

01/2005 — Equine Seminar Hosted by Canterbury Stables
Canterbury Racing Stables announced they will be hosting an event on Saturday, January 29, 2005, for prospective thoroughbred racehorse owners. According to Canterbury co-founder Tom Daly, "Our Partnerships are specifically designed for new investors looking for a dependable entry point into the fascinating, yet daunting world of thoroughbred ownership."
