Those entries included Santa Clause, Chris Kringle, Jack Frost, Frosty Snowman, Rudolph Render, Ba Humbug, and hundreds of Elfs. Statue of Liberty Celebrates 120th Birthday with Picture Contest
As part of a long-standing client relationship with The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Mattatuck helped implement an online program for link recruitment, but with a clever twist. "Search engine rankings can benefit greatly through an increased number of inbound links," noted Mattatuck co-founder Dan Lynch. "Instead of soliciting reciprocal links, we created a program that would yield stronger results and gain widespread attention from the media, both online and offline."
With the Statue of Liberty celebrating her 120th birthday on Oct. 28, 2006, a picture contest was developed for elementary school-aged children. As expected, the contest generated immediate and widespread appeal, resulting in dozens of new inbound links to www.StatueOfLiberty.org in the first week alone. Press coverage through the contest period will provide benefits for several months.

8/2006 — Mattatuck Co-Founder Celebrates Recent Acquisition
Sure, we know this page is supposed to be for company and client news, but we couldn't ignore the birth of Warren David Vale, the first child born to Mattatuck co-founder Peter Vale and his wife Heather. We'll respect their privacy and not post photos or details, but trust us — this guy's more hansome than his dad and we're sure he'll be writing open-source code in no time!

Lynch shared expert tips to Google Your Family Tree and how to get the most benefit from this free site. He also shared details with attendees about Ellis Island, the Port of New York, and Castle Garden, and BT27 records from the UK.
7/2006 — Canterbury Stables Celebrates Milestone with Win Number 50
Thoroughbred horseracing isn't for those with a weak heart, that's for certain! Mattatuck has learned this by working with long-time clients Tom and Maryann Daly. Owners of Canterbury Racing Stables (based in New Fairfield, Connecticut) have had many trips to the Winners' Circle, but few as satisfying as the 50th win which occurred at Belmont Park on July 8, 2006. Jockey Fernando Jara guided Retribution to a 1:34.3 victory in the one mile race on the turf.
5/2006 — Connecticut Society of Genealogists Adopts New Bylaws at Annual Meeting
The Connecticut Society of Genealogists, Connecticut's leading family history society and one of the largest such groups in North America, adopted new bylaws at their recent annual meeting. The changes were suggested to enable the society to better serve members in this age of internet genealogy. With more than 4,000 members, CSG has seen a shift in how some members conduct research, while others continue to value benefits they have enjoyed through membership since 1968. In December 2005, Mattatuck launched a completely redesigned site for CSG (www.ctgenealogy.com) after months of careful coordination and research.

This adds to their long-standing success in publishing for the family history market — adding to Family Chronicle, History Magazine, and several other popular publications for the family history enthusiast. Mattatuck was pleased that an article written by Dan Lynch was selected as the cover feature for the premier issue. Given his in-depth understanding of both genealogy and search engines, this was a perfect project to be involved in.
3/2006 — St. Joseph's of Stratford Begins Centennial Celebration
On Sunday, March 12th, at St. Joseph's of Stratford, Conn., parish members began their 100th year of existence as a National Catholic Church. It was in March 1907 that St. Joseph’s Parish was first recognized by the State of Connecticut as a religious congregation, thus March 2006 marks our 99th anniversary and the start of our 100th year. It was on February 18, 1907, when Polish Catholic immigrants in Bridgeport, Conn., decided to organize a parish within a new Catholic denomination in America, the Polish National Catholic Church.
3/2006 — FamilyHistoryZone Targets Growing Number of Novice Family Historians
With a strength in the growing market for Internet genealogy and family history, Mattatuck has announced plans to launch FamilyHistoryZone.com, a site built specifically to help those newcomers to the field of online genealogy. There are already thousands, perhaps millions of genealogy websites, but few take the time to explain to the beginner how and why certain types of records are useful in their quest to research and record their family tree. The site is expected to launch later this spring and will be accessible at www.familyhistoryzone.com, joining a growing number of such sites designed, created, and hosted by Mattatuck Consulting.
3/2006 — Wall of Honor Web Site Re-Launched by Ellis Island Foundation
The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation launched a completely revised version of their Wall of Honor Web site at www.WallOfHonor.org — the American Immigrant Wall of Honor located at Ellis Island contains the names of more than 650,000 who have been honored by their family with a memorial inscription. Through the site, users can add a name or search names which already appear on the Wall. The project was managed by Mattatuck as part of our ongoing work with the Foundation.

1/2006 — 1880 Census Web site added to Network of Leading Genealogy sites.
Mattatuck Consulting today announced the re-launch of 1880census.com, one of several genealogy sites that comprise a network of sites for family history enthusiasts. The 1880 census is significant because it was the first to document the relationship between the head of household and members living in a household. It is also the only U.S. Federal Census available online free of charge to search the electronic index. Images require subscription, but are also available free via microfilm at the National Archives regional centers and the LDS Family History Centers. Other sites in the network include those for using the 1900 Census, 1930 census, and even one featuring celebrity census entries.
1/2006 — Trumbull Mall, Bridgeport Ferry, and Bridgeport Hospital Top Online Search
8Towns Marketing, a division of Mattatuck Consulting, has released their 2006 report of the most popular keyword phrases submitted to leading search engines Google, Yahoo, and MSN. According to Mattatuck co-founder Dan Lynch, there were more than 1.5 million online queries submitted per month in 2005 dealing specifically with the local markets served by www.8towns.com.
Of the nearly 1,000 unique keyword phrases that were identified, just 152 keyword phrases accounted for more than 80% of the overall local search volume. "Local search results are critical," noted Lynch. "Google and other search engines are wonderful tools, but their vast index is often their drawback when dealing with a micro market." Lynch explained that searching for a plumber, electrician, or chimney sweep on Google will generate millions of results, but few actually serving the local market. His team created the www.8towns.com Web site to address this market need. "We use our online market intelligence to determine which keyword phrases to optimize for, helping our site become more visible to local consumers," added Lynch. Other top queries for products or services in the local market were: milford mall, fairfield prep, trumbull marriott, and others.
